About the Journal
About SJBE
A focused, peer-reviewed journal for high school work in business and economics, with a permanent, original SJBE DOI on every paper.
I · Who We Are
Ivy+ graduate-trained editors
The Student Journal of Business and Economics is an online, open-access academic journal that publishes peer-reviewed research and review articles in business and economics, written entirely by high school students.
We were founded by a group of MS and MBA graduates from New York University, Johns Hopkins University, and Cornell. Most high-school journals are general or STEM-focused; we specialize in business and economics specifically, the field where we have direct training and graduate-level expertise from Ivy+ institutions.
Every accepted paper is read by a member of our editorial board and assigned its own original, permanent Digital Object Identifier (DOI), registered through Crossref, the same DOI registration agency used by major academic publishers. Once a paper has its DOI, it is citable and discoverable indefinitely.
ISSN 3144-0363.

III · Scope
What we publish
We publish two kinds of work in business and economics: original research (papers that contribute new evidence, data, or analysis), and review articles, which synthesize existing literature on a focused question. Submissions outside of business and economics are not considered.
Our published catalog spans labor and sports economics, demography, artificial intelligence in knowledge work, financial education, urban policy, and more. Breadth is a feature: any rigorous question in business or economics is within scope.
Submission is free. The publication fee ($300 standard, $325 fast track) is charged only after a paper is accepted. See submission guidelines for full details.
